Description
She has a million dollar view and the bones to last a few more lifetimes but inside she’s stuck in the 80s. White carpet and brown paneling for miles, oldschool handbuilt/sewn window boards with stripes to match and don’t forget that green, pink&black kitchen. Located in a family friendly historic community that has sidewalks to public parks is this beast of a house measuring 5,888 square feet on 3 levels on.the.brow. Nobody on the block has as much parking as this circled driveway provides and the rare 2 car garage conveniently walks in between the kitchen and laundry room on white tiled floors. From the front door, you’ll enter on black marble floors and step to a formal dining room with a mirrored wall or down into a sunken formal living room. From the elegant 2 story foyer behind french doors is a family room with a brick gas-log fireplace, built in bookshelves & a wall of windows with french doors that open to a large deck with a gas piped grill. The owners suite is down the hall with it’s own wall of windows overlooking the city with TWO private bathrooms (1 has a shower, 1 has a big tub) a walk in closet and a built in vanity and 2 linen closets.
Up the plushy carpeted staircase past the crystal chandelier you’ll find 2 large bedrooms (both with views, 1 with a walk-in closet), a study/office and 2 full bathrooms and tons of storage space. Down the stairs is the entire length of the house finished out with french doors that walk out onto a brick patio, with a brick wall gas log fireplace, a jacuzzi tub in a full bathroom, a kitchenette w/ built in 2eye stove and drink sink and another large room (that could be the 4th bedroom, it has a small closet) with a small room sized cedar sauna built in that works perfectly. Another room offset where the pool table once sat could be a 5th by adding a door and all the other doors are more storage than you can even find stuff for. This house was owned by 3 people its whole life. The builder lived in it first, then the seller’s late grandparents. This reduced price reflects the updating that may or may not be wanted as well as some maintenance work on the plumbing and electricals. Everything was working wonderfully until it went on the market a year ago right before the interest rates went up. The door to the basement has to stay closed because when it is left open, it covers the hvac return and bogs the systems down. During the past year, a water circulator pump went out (that keeps the water in the pipes hot automatically when you turn the spigot) and the part is in and ready to be reattached. There are 2 built in grills on the deck & brick patio already piped in from Chatt Gas. There’s a separate water meter for landscaping that you don’t have to pay sewer fees on. There is a community group that you can join but it is not mandatory. Inclusion equals the use of the firehall down the bridge for a small fee and other perks but is not a homeowners association of any kind…just a historic service group with the best intentions for the neighborhood. And last but most important, a whole house gas powered generator. You won’t even know when the power goes out because it will switch over automatically and run everything…even the neighbors with a drop cord. There is a whole house security system with strategically located panic buttons and in the wall surround sound on the main level and the basement.
